Reading Form Input

Sign-ups, searches, comments — all of it starts with an input field. Read what the user typed and use it.

1. 1Build the form

   Add a text input and a button.

   <input id="name" placeholder="Your name">
   <button id="greet">Greet me</button>
   <h2 id="out"></h2>

2. 2Read the value

   On click, read input.value.

3. 3Show the greeting

   Write it into the h2 using a template string.

4. 4Handle empty input

   If the name is empty, ask them to type something.
